“Lawyer Up”: Democrats Prepare to Unleash Political Rage in Congress

Within minutes of the Democrats retaking power in the House of Representatives, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), the expected chair of the House Oversight Committee, just posted a menacing two-word message: “Lawyer up.” Across the country, far-left politicians and pundits immediately demanded a spasm of investigations and impeachments as soon as they assume control of both houses. Like a nation of Madame Defarges, activists are eagerly knitting the names of targets into the lists of the walking dead, starting with Haley Stevens, who decided to test the “big tent” claims by splitting her ticket to vote against Abdul El-Sayed.

Various sites are running lists of targets as influencers such as Hasan Piker is posting on “WE’RE GONNA PUT YOUR ASS IN JAIL EVERYONE GET MORE WOKE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The conditions on the Hill are only likely to make such rage politics more appealing with the new Congress. Despite the large margin secured in the House, it is not enough to overcome a veto requiring two-thirds of both houses. While impeachment also requires a two-thirds vote for conviction, investigations will be a delivery item to offer the base as proof of action in the deadlocked conditions that will unfold on the Hill.

The most immediate likely target will be Stevens, with many demanding her expulsion from the Democratic caucus. She will certainly be denied plum Committee appointments. She is now an object lesson to others not to stand in the way of the mob.

On impeachments, Pete Hegseth will likely be the initial target. I am told that there were working groups on the Hill on the expected agenda after taking power. Hegseth appears to be the favorite for impeachment. I am told there is some division on seeking a third impeachment of Trump, though the base is unlikely to be satisfied without such an effort. Chuck Schumer does not appear as eager to take on such a trial but does support “corruption investigations.”

The Democrats ran on fighting corruption and will now work to prove the point. They will have to fulfill the narrative and parade a line of targets before these Committees. Pundits like Jennifer Welch have even demanded calling in Barron and Tiffany Trump in this cathartic crackdown.

What is clear is that a tsunami of subpoenas will follow, and it will be a bonanza for lawyers in Washington. At the same time, the Justice Department’s investigations into the Alaskan decoy scandal and the Omar matter will also continue.

Of course, little grows on scorched Earth. The next few months are likely to see a sprawling investigation effort in the House Oversight and Judiciary committees. While there is room for compromise on some legislation, it is unlikely that such effort will satiate those with unrequited rage who will now have the power of both houses of Congress.

  1. DeSantis has a word for senate Republicans.

“Ron DeSantis GOES NUCLEAR on Spineless Senate Republicans for SQUANDERING Two Years of GOP Control”

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/11/ron-desantis-goes-nuclear-spineless-senate-republicans-squandering/

I imagine the filibuster Thune protected will be set aside as soon as may be when Democrats rule.

it is very hard to ignore the contempt many have for Spineless Thune. Is he even a Republican?

    1. DeSantis is entirely correct. A progressive friend of mine expected me to be upset over the election. I wasn’t, which upset him. What did we lose? Rinos? Do they vote for what we need? My friend is ecstatic over the Democrats’ win, but will he be when he finds that the Democrats’ plans are the opposite of what he wants?

2028: DeSantis and Rubio or Rubio and DeSantis. What do the Dems have?

My friend will be hurt by a bad economy. I won’t, and I keep telling him that. Maybe the fog will lift, and he will realize how foolish he is.

      1. S. Meyer: “2028: DeSantis and Rubio or Rubio and DeSantis.”

My hope too. Both are outstanding.

And I, too, and am glad to see the backs of the Rinos.

  2. The radicals mean what they say.

But maybe it is time for the administration to remove the velvet gloves and give the radicals the need to lawyer up.

Hit ’em hard. They wanted a war with lawfare. You have two years to bring the pain.

  3. It is a relief that the election is over! Win or lose, the dice has been rolled and we can ‘move forward’. However, the real ‘ugly’ begins. “Lawyer up” and ‘be ruthless” by Harris. What a wonderful tone set when especially this woman – who wanted to be President – couldn’t quell the border after 4 years of trying. Is she ruthless – or a cheerleader who has no idea how to really govern?

One doesn’t have to like Trump or his ego but be honest — could any of us withstood what was hoisted upon him for all these past years. I know I could not – both emotionally or financially. It is his ego – as annoying as it is — that has made many positive changes (and mistakes too). But he sure is creative. Savings for kids? Space travel? He makes us all uncomfortable with his unrelenting ideas — but at least he moves forward!

Why were the Dems so quiet in the Biden years and please – someone – list Biden’s accomplishment. I for one knew he was infirmed prior to his election as did others. Where were the Dems when they should have made progress for the nation by pushing him out. NO WHERE! And worse still, they lied to themselves and the public – actually thinking he should run again. Only when it was so obvious that he was ‘out of it’ did they voice concern out loud.

The Dems should take their win and show that they can heal the nation by presenting creative ideas. But they will not. They will soon be infighting amongst themselves and it will be ugly. Yes they will end the war — but it will come to haunt us all because Iran will raise up and threaten generations to come. One can’t foresee the future but one can see that anger and hate has divided the Democrat party, stifled new ideas and any hope of change. The don’t have to pick apart our Constitution — they can work within it to bring real change about. But current history is against them. They do not know how to create — they know how to destroy. So get ready for two more years of ugly and when it is over, let’s see if we are better off or will we bounce back to the Biden years of no-action, blank stares and double-talk.

I hope I’m wrong but history and the ‘gang of clowns’ that lead this party now are fueled up to take over. And gone will be the likes of the moderate Dems who could help heal this nation and their party through their moderation. They will not elect Josh Shapiro, Rahm Emanuel or Mikie Sherrill. These should be the real future leaders of this Party. Perhaps when everyone takes the name of TRUMP out of the conversation, it will allow people to actually think again — ideas – not rage.

      Summary
Across his term, Biden delivered major legislation on infrastructure, climate, healthcare, manufacturing, veterans’ benefits, and worker protections, while also overseeing significant foreign policy shifts and record economic recovery.

      1. Maria, what you call Biden achievements are mostly failures unless you consider failure an accomplishment.

Let’s take one that should be easy to understand. “Student debt relief: $10,000–$20,000 for borrowers under $125,000 income (later challenged in courts).” I prefer to make things better for the middle class, especially the working family of 4+. I never want to raise their costs, and perhaps that makes me in agreement with Democrat ideas, but not with their accomplishments.

Those who go to college and have their debt erased become a burden to those families who never went to college and, in general, earn less. You have turned things upside down. The less affluent are now supporting the more affluent. Is that the goal of the Democrat Party?

        1. The debt erasure meant more cash they could put directly into the economy rather than some balance sheet for a government addicted to deficit spending.

Is S. Meyer anti-economy? That’s what being against student loan forgiveness means.

          1. Student loan payments cost the Government Billions. Added to the national debt. Nothing more than Biden bribes. Anon must have had his loans paid off. LOSER

            1. I exited college without loans and paid off those my wife had a few years after that.

There is more added to the national debt each day because billionaires were forgiven their tax burden than all the student loans that were forgiven.

            2. Kirk, Anon is a loser in many different fashions. Above, he reverses what he previously promoted. That is the sign of a Troll who wants attention because he’s done so little in life.

          2. That is true, but only to the extent that the cash went into private hands rather than government hands. Your argument demonstrates how Stupid your usual argument is and that you wish to subsidize the more affluent with the dollars of the less affluent. Of course your brain didn’t think of just lowering the tax rate where even more will be kept in private hands.

  4. Um, just checking a few of the last comments to make sure this wasn’t yet observed.

“Expelling” Haley Stevens is at this point an empty gesture, as are threats to deny her committee assignments in the next Congress of which she won’t be a member since she ran for the Senate and lost instead of for re-election.

  5. As someone who spent a lot of time studying a specific time period in world history-not by choice, post WWII many school systems did the same-the election results are troubling. I’ve also had opportunities to speak with those who lived under the National Socialist (Nazi) regime. I feel somewhat like I expect someone in Germany would after Hitler was appointed Chancellor in 1933. There are differences in the government structures, the US President has more power than Hinderburg did and that-in theory-provides limits on what the elective bodies can do. IF the President is willing to moderate policy and practice. I don’t see that attitude on the left today anymore than it did in Berlin post 1933.

I’ll also point out that when the Nazis started their oppression, they had the widespread support of the German people. Quoting Dr. Niemoeller: “First they came for the Communists. We understood that and supported it.”

    1. Ran out of time before I could add the following: Once Chancellor, Hitler used the power of the government to boost the National Socialist party and stifle the opposition. Anyone thinking leftists will pass on that opportunity in this country? They’ve already announced that they will.

  6. The Dems have no real plans except to go after Trump and his Admin. What Congress passes Trump can veto and there is likely not enough in the Senate to override the veto.

    1. “The Dems” have lots of plans— starting with reversing as much of the damage Trump and Project 2025 have done—for example, taking away the ACA subsidies, they plan on increasing revenue by reversing the 75% of tax cuts that benefitted the wealthiest, reversing the Medicaid and Medicare cuts, reversing the cuts to SNAP benefits, restoring school funding and free or reduced cost school lunches, just for starters. “The Dems” are going to make purchasing a first time home affordable, restoring funding for veterans and cancer research, and holding Trump and his administration accountable.

According to exit polls, the #1 issue for voters is government corruption. 91% listed government corruption as their top concern. Americans want AI and data centers to be regulated, they want the Epstein files released, they want Congress to investigate the crypto sales that netted Trump $2 Billion, with most of the crypto being purchased by foreign governments, the government contracts awarded to businesses in which the Trumps have a financial interest, selling pardons, and Musk having control of Starlink and Starshield and throttling down the satellites when Ukraine needed them to defend itself. The government also uses Starlink and Starshield, which Musk controls. Musk also depends heavily on US government contracts.

      1. Maria R, I will keep things short and pick out only a few that are not true.

“Trump $2 Billion, with most of the crypto being purchased by foreign governments” Trump didn’t get $2 billion, and most of the crypto wasn’t bought by foreign governments.

“Government contracts were awarded to businesses in which the Trumps have a financial interest” Not true. There were no direct federal procurement contracts.

I don’t like the appearance of a conflict of interest with those who have billions of dollars. But we should not exclude them from office. Trump doesn’t direct his money. If we want to look at corruption, look at Congress; legislators enter the House and Senate with little capital and exit with phenomenally high bank accounts.

How can we ever improve things if the data under consideration is flawed?

          • The $2 Billion UAE-Linked Deal: In early 2025, Abu Dhabi-backed investment firm MGX and entities linked to UAE National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan were involved in major transactions with World Liberty Financial. This included an Abu Dhabi-linked fund purchasing a $2 billion block of World Liberty’s USD1 stablecoin to facilitate a $2 billion investment into the crypto exchange Binance.
          • 49% Stake Purchase: An investment vehicle tied to the UAE ruling family also acquired a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial (reportedly valued around $500 million).
          • Trump’s Overall Crypto Haul: Financial disclosure reports released by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics showed that Trump generated over $2 billion in total revenue in his first year back in office, with more than $1.4 billion directly tied to cryptocurrency ventures—including proceeds from World Liberty Financial and the $TRUMP memecoin.

The statement was close enough. The truth is just as terrible. Shilling for Trump isn’t much better.

          1. From “Truth Out”:

“ilitary contractors with investments from President Donald Trump’s sons have raked in billions of dollars in government deals and contracts since June 2025, when their venture capital company first obtained a major stake in military technology company Anduril, new reporting finds.

Last year, 1789 Capital, of which Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, invested $2.5 billion into Anduril. According to an analysis of the government’s public contracts by ABC, since then, Anduril has been awarded 135 contracts from the U.S. government, with $1.8 billion of it having been paid out thus far.

In all, military contractors with backing from Donald Trump Jr. or Eric Trump have gotten $6 billion in “active or promised government contracts,” the analysis found.

The Pentagon and a spokesperson for the two brothers denied any impropriety. “No company receives preferential treatment. The War Department always looks for solutions to benefit the warfighter, not any pre-selected entity. Outside affiliations, investors, or political connections play absolutely no role in the Department’s funding decisions,” a Pentagon official said.

However, ABC uncovered several instances in which companies were granted Pentagon contracts for the first time after Donald Trump Jr. or Eric Trump joined their teams.”

            1. Maria R, if what you printed was true, why did the original source, ABC, retract its article about Donald Jr. and Eric Trump? The article was riddled with errors, like your last article that I commented on.

        1. From Bloomberg news:

“Benjamin Greenberg, a shareholder in Circle Internet Group Inc., claims illegal competition from World Liberty has harmed him and other Circle investors financially.

The suit claims Trump violated the Foreign Emoluments Clause, a provision of the US Constitution that bars presidents from taking payments from foreign governments without the approval of Congress, in two World Liberty transactions with the United Arab Emirates.

“This action is about the President of the United States corruptly profiting from more than $2 billion in payments from a foreign government in direct violation of the Constitution,” Greenberg said in a complaint filed Thursday in federal court in Washington. “No president in American history has profited from his office so brazenly.”

Trump reported $1.4 billion in earnings related to his crypto ventures, including World Liberty, last year. The revelation drew a backlash from Democrats in Congress and has been blamed in part for the failure of the Clarity Act, which was supposed to establish market-structure rules for the crypto industry.”

          1. Maria R, you can quote all you want.

I said, “Trump didn’t get $2 billion, and most of the crypto wasn’t bought by foreign governments.”

I will deal with one thing at a time. So far, you haven’t corrected your statement so we can focus on what Trump did or didn’t do. First, we need solid facts. I can be critical of Trump, but overall, his policies have been good and far better than Biden’s. If he could run again, I would vote for him again.

  7. Is that what MAGA did on Jan 6? Mike Johnson was wrong about the polls being wrong. Will he ever admit it?

  8. Corruption of Trump benefitting his friends and family will be, and should be investigated. Specifically to be uncovered are Putin bribing Witkov and Kushner with a deal to become silent owners of Lukoil’s international holdings. This would funnel cash to Putin for the war. On the heels of this pitch, Trump pulled the rug out from under Ukraine, parroting Putin’s view that Ukraine needs a new leader. This has all the appearances of a quid pro quo.

Then, there is Don, Jr.’s extravagant wedding in the Bahamas, the island rented by a Russian real estate mogul connected to a group trying to acquire Samolet, the largest real estate company in Russia. Attendees were surprised by the number of Russians at the wedding, and by the guest list omitting friends of the couple who would not approve of the foreign grifting.

Then, there’s the $400M airplane “gifted” to Trump by the Qatari emir, which he has been using for all his campaign travel. Doesn’t the Constitution forbid this in the Emoluments Clause? Is it unfair to ask what the Qataris expected in return?

What about slush funds? A former President was forced to resign over a secret cash stash pigeonholed for dirty tricks in the 1972 election. How did taxpayer $ end up being recently steered into political ads directed by the WH?

Is this grifting somehow less odious compared to the Biden Family because Trump allied with the Republican Party?

    1. The current Air Force Ones were delivered to George H.W. Bush. Trump ordered replacements in his first term, and the delivery date been slipping ever since. Boeing has discontinued the 747 altogether. The gift jet, only 13 years old, is a godsend.

Further, this is a transaction between governments. Qatar has been a military ally since Operation Desert Storm, their aircraft fighting alongside ours. Their airbase was instrumental to the logistics of the Iraq invasion, and they invested a billion dollars to provide the current airbase — currently the forward HQ of CENTCOM — for our use. Qatar is a good and a long-term friend of the US.

    2. Pbinca, this is one major conflict zone. Do you prefer war over a diplomatic settlement? Do you wish to escalate the war to the use of tactical nuclear weapons? You are framing this transaction as a bribe, but there is no evidence of any financial benefit to Kushner and Witcoff, and the evidence is against such a thing.

You have fallen for media spin.

Try focusing on the end of the war. If Putin is flat-out going to lose, he is dealing with life and death. The next question is whether Putin will use nuclear weapons if he is otherwise going to die.

  9. Americans sold out the country for a tank of gas and a bunch of bananas. We get the government we deserve.

    1. Anon, they were manipulated. Its an artificial creation by foreign and domestic collusion. It was used in Germany. That’s how the cake is baked.

A horde of penniless Hondurans are geaded toward Texas and California. Get your checkbook out, anon. North America must be resettled into the Americas. Everyone left.

  10. The Democrats ran on fighting corruption, yet they opposed DOGE combing through government for waste, fraud, and abuse.

Democrats claimed investigating Ilhan Omar for immigration fraud, and a connection to the massive Somali organized fraud in Minnesota was political weaponization, while simultaneously pledging law fare against everyone associated with the Trump Administration.

Democrats ran on affordability, while their policies in every area they controlled have made life more unaffordable, with Democrat Supermajority California as a case in point.

    1. It’s hard to believe that Democrats care about the price of fuel, when decades of Democratic rule has made Diesel fuel cost a third more in California than in neighboring Arizona.

      1. “Democratic rule” is not responsible for the high cost of fuel in California. That state has relied on local fuel supplies and refineries because it is impracticable to put a pipeline in, due to the mountains–you would have to go through or over mountains and that is impracticable. Local fuel supplies are dwindling, so California has to rely on crude being shipped in and refined. Due to air pollution (smog), California has to impose air quality regulations that other states don’t have to impose. Transportation is the largest contributor to California’s air pollution, accounting for roughly 40% of the state’s emissions. Cars, trucks, and other vehicles release nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are precursors to ground-level ozone, a major component of smog. Earth.org.

. Heavy-duty trucks, ships, and rail operations, especially around major ports like Los Angeles and Long Beach, also emit significant amounts of diesel exhaust containing fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and NOx. biologyinsights.com

Industrial activities such as oil refineries, chemical plants, and fossil fuel production release additional pollutants, including VOCs and particulate matter, which contribute to smog formation
        Earth.Org

Combustion of fuels like gasoline, diesel, and wood also produces PM2.5, which can penetrate deep into the lungs and cause health problems
        California State Portal

Wildfires have become an increasingly significant source of air pollution in California. Smoke from prolonged wildfire seasons releases large amounts of PM2.5 and other pollutants into the atmosphere, worsening air quality
        Earth.Org

        Geographic and Climatic Factors
California’s topography plays a crucial role in trapping pollutants. Many populated areas, such as the Los Angeles Basin and the San Joaquin Valley, are surrounded by mountains, creating natural “bowls” that prevent air from dispersing
Thermal inversions, where a layer of warm air traps cooler, polluted air near the surface, further exacerbate smog levels
        biologyinsights.com

The state’s sunny and warm climate accelerates the formation of ground-level ozone. Sunlight drives photochemical reactions between NOx and VOCs, producing ozone and contributing to the characteristic brownish haze of smog.

        1. Fascinating.

Arizona has no oil refineries of its own, so it relies on refined fuels sent via specialized pipelines from…Southern California.

          1. 2/3 of Arizona’s petroleum comes from Texas and New Mexico. It receives a small amount of petroleum from the southern tip of California.

            1. Arizona gets 50% of its motor fuels from SoCal. A higher percentage in Phoenix, a lower percentage in Tucson.

            2. Arizona gets 50% of its motor fuels from SoCal. A higher percentage in Phoenix, a lower percentage in Tucson.

              1. According to Pinal County Arizona:

“Where does Arizona’s motor fuels come from?
Arizona’s supply of motor fuels comes from two basic sources: 1) Southern California refineries; and 2)
New Mexico and West Texas refineries. Gasoline may also be delivered to Southern California ports, for
shipment to Arizona, via super tankers or barges from refineries in the Northwest and the East Coast, as
well as from countries such as Venezuela, Finland, and Saudi Arabia.”

As I said, California has to bring in crude oil from other sources and refine it there because its own supply of oil is dwindling. Some of the crude it brings in gets sent to Arizona.

But the real issue here is the response to the claim that “Democrats” are somehow responsible for the higher cost of fuel in California.

                1. “. . . “Democrats” are somehow responsible for the higher cost of fuel in California.”

As opposed to your delusional spins, they are responsible.

Total state imposed fees and taxes on gas in CA is about $1/gallon — triple the national average.

And that added cost does not include CA’s insanely expensive environmental regulations.

  11. I recall when a large number of conservatives demanded that the failure of the Democratic Party could only be repaired by adopting conservative values and by copying the Republican formula and backing Republican policies; only by becoming Republicans.

Fortunately, common sense prevailed and a large number of Republicans decided to adopt Democratic principles.

    1. Democrat principles:

      a. 49 trillion dollars worth of socialism.

      b. Anti-Semitism.

I’m sure that’ll work out great.

  12. Turley’s Blog Gets Mention

I just read this on a well-known news site:

“The blue tsunami was so massive, the MAGA cult has been reduced to one, obese troll.  He goes by the name of ‘Estovir’ and he’s the blog stooge on the comments section of Johnathan Turley’s blog.

For years Estovir has been the writer for endless puppet commenters.  Typically said puppets spout pro MAGA talking points.  But all of Estovir’s puppets weren’t enough to save Republicans from last night’s crushing defeat.”

        1. He is in a psych ward. His existence is a living hell. No one in their right mind would continually attack others 24/7 except for a very broken individual

  13. Blue cities are getting more Nazi-like every day. Literally. Michigan just elected a Jew-hating senator, and now Philadelphia’s “Bike on your Left” group is organizing a protest against Jewish businesses in the city, and they’re planning it for the eve of Kristallnacht. How dare a Jewish-owned business think it has a right to exist in the city of brotherly love! These people are taking a page from the Nazi playbook – again, literally.

  14. The end of Trump’s presidency is quickly looking like LBJ…a foreign entanglement spelled trouble from jump.

  15. Keep it up lefties…what goes around comes around. You dipchits think you can keep getting away with your BS but it’s just a matter of time before the normals have had enough, and you aholes will be running for the exits. Tough talking little pansies.

  16. Various sites are running lists of targets

It is the Democrats who may very well be targets of President Trump’s DOJ, and who can blame him? The Democrats (including Federal Judges) have literally torched the US Constitution and the rule of law with gusto and in flagrante delicto. President Donald Trump is not going allow the United States to become a Cuba during his tenure.

Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Merrick Garand individually personified corruption, but together they are no match for Todd Blanche. Democrats are savoring payback . But the DOJ falls under the Executive Branch, not Congress.

    re: Todd Blanche

You have Todd Blanche himself who was a a partner in a world-class law firm, he was a prosecutor in what’s considered the top prosecution office, and he’s tough as nails. In terms of confirmations, I think that Schumer’s hair would catch on fire if it was Todd Blanche because of his-, he was at the center of the Epstein files issue, but he’s also been at the president’s side throughout these battles. …Todd Blanche is a tough guy. He’ll gut you like a trout without even changing his expression. He’s a litigator. I mean, he’s been in the tough fights, and you can count on that.

    Professor Jonathan Turley

Trump has not forgotten what Obama, Hillary, Comey, Merrick Garland and Democrat Judges did to him. He likely has his own list of targets, which would be completely understandable. Democrats should hope Todd Blanche has something they lack: ethics.
